The SKB 3RS Series Removable Shock Rack 5U (30 inches) is a robust transport solution for sensitive 19-inch rack-mounted equipment. The hard case is lightweight, yet built to withstand harsh conditions: shockproof, watertight and dustproof, as well as heat- and chemical-resistant. The case is rotomoulded from LMDP (Linear Medium Density Polyethylene) and meets or exceeds MIL-STD 810H. This makes it ideal for hire, touring, AV and installation work where reliability and protection are a priority.

Robust internal structure in accordance with EIA-310

The inner rack chassis is made from strong, lightweight aluminium alloy extrusions and is fitted with 11-gauge hot-rolled carbon steel rack rails, in accordance with EIA-310. The standard rack width is 19 inches in accordance with EIA/ECA-310-E, and the rail-to-rail depth is 30 inches (measured at 29.75 inches). Thanks to the square-hole rack rails, you can use both #10-32 (US) and 6 mm (international) cage nuts; these are supplied as standard. The internal frame also provides sway space for air circulation and heat dissipation, ensuring your equipment is better ventilated even whilst in use.

Shock isolators, covers and ease of transport

Shocks and vibrations are absorbed by eight (8) elastomeric isolators, which are suitable as standard for a payload of 40 to 150 lb. For heavier racks, the capacity can be extended to 160 to 300 lb using additional isolators, available as a special order to be fitted by SKB. Practical feature: a 2-inch-deep front lid and a 4.5-inch-deep rear lid provide extra space for deeper equipment. Featuring edge castors, 8 spring-loaded comfort-grip handles, stacking ribs/lugs, coupling straps, gasket-sealed lids with lid hangers and an automatic pressure relief valve, this case is ready for intensive use.
