General

The SKB 3RS Series Static Shock Rack 5U is a complete transport case for 19-inch rack-mounted equipment, designed to provide optimum protection for sensitive electronics whilst on the move. The hard case is made from rotationally moulded LMDP (Linear Medium Density Polyethylene) and meets or exceeds the MIL-STD 810H standard. This makes it not only impact-resistant, but also watertight and dustproof. Add to that its resistance to heat and chemicals, and you have a case that is perfectly suited to hire, touring and AV productions.

Shockmount system and load capacity

Inside, there is a shockmount system featuring 8 elastomeric shock absorbers. These absorb shocks and vibrations during transport, reducing the strain on your equipment. The standard payload range is 40 to 150 lb, suitable for many common 5U configurations. If your rack is heavier, the payload range can be extended to 160 to 300 lb as a special order, with additional shock absorbers. This upgrade must be installed by SKB to ensure the system functions correctly.

19-inch standard, rails and tour practice

The rack width is 19 inches in accordance with EIA/ECA-310-E, and the square-hole rack rails are compatible with both #10-32 (US) and 6 mm (international) cage nuts; these are supplied as standard. With a rail-to-rail depth of 24 inches, you have a compact, handy rack case for on the road. The case is fitted with edge castors, 8 spring-loaded comfort-grip handles and recessed stainless steel hardware with a black powder coating. Also practical: gasket-sealed lids with lid hangers, an automatic pressure relief valve and coupling straps to securely link multiple racks when stacking.
