Yet another great 500-series module from Heritage Audio: the “8173”. Whereas the 6673 adds the 1066 mid-band to the classic 73, the 8173 takes a different approach: the 81 mid-bands, combined with that same 73 preamp base. The result is an EQ that covers virtually the entire audible frequency range – and which both connoisseurs of vintage modules and plugin users will immediately recognise as a particularly musical way to shape sound. You’ve never seen this level of flexibility in a 73-style module before. The same Baxandall-style high-shelf now features a switch with three frequency options instead of the fixed 12kHz. The low- and high-frequency shelving provides a smooth, natural response, and a switchable high-pass filter (50Hz, 80Hz or 300Hz) gives you even more control over where the EQ kicks in.
