General
The EVH 5150III 50-watt amplifier head is the smaller counterpart of the 100-watt EVH 5150II guitar amplifier head. It delivers a powerful, high-quality sound and is ideal for guitarist who value high volume, but prefer a compact housing. The amp head can be easily connected to the 2x12 and 1x12 cabinets from the EVH 5150II series.
EVH Gear 5150III 50-watt amplifier head: three channels
The letters EVH in EVH Gear stand for Eddie van Halen - a familiar name for guitar players. The legendary guitarist is closely involved in the development and production processes of the EVH products, resulting in a truly unique sound. This 50-watt amplifier head features three channels (two of which share an equalizer): Clean, Crunch and Lead. The amp head is equipped with seven JJ ECC83 (12AX7) preamp tubes and two JJ 6L6 power tubes, and the impedance can be set to 4, 8 or 16 ohms. All channels have controls for Gain, Low, Mid, High and Volume, and channel 3 also has a Master Presence control.
Connectors
At the front of this EVH Gear guitar amplifier head you'll find a 6.35mm jack input, while its back is fitted with 6.35mm jacks for the Effects Loop (Send and Return). Additionally, the amp head is equipped with two parallel speaker outputs (jack), a MIDI input for channel and FX loop control, a headphone and line output and a connector for the included 4-button foot switch.

Ik ben erg tevreden met deze amp. Heeft inderdaad een heerlijke scheur.
Gebruik de amp vooral als 2 kanaal amp. Ik heb wel de middelen inmiddels om de volume gap te dichten..maar tijdens zoektocht gewend geraakt aan gebruik met 2 kanalen.
Wat mij betreft een aanrader.
Heb de mijne destijds in goes gehaald en daar prima geholpen.
Als ik ergens nog n geldboom vind dan koop ik ook zeker de 2x12 van EVH erbij..erg goede match!

Waarom kocht ik hem bij Bax?
Een draagbaar (+/- 15kg) gigging-alternatief (wanneer een fullsize 100W tube head gewoon teveel en te zwaar is), 3 kanaals en met schakelbare FX-Loop.
Pluspunten:
-dat doet ie allemaal!
-wordt geleverd inclusief footswitch.
-goede, degelijke afwerking/bouwkwaliteit.
-prachtig, bijna Fender-achtig clean in een scheurmonster.
-heerlijke 'brown sound' op het blauwe kanaal; blijft erg open klinken, zelfs met gain voluit.
-high gain tone van rode kanaal is haast ongeëvenaard, zonder mushy te worden zoals de oude 5150's wel eens konden.
-Resonance control op achterkant (voor je (sub)laag finetuning).
-Volle, brede sound (mede dankzij 2x 6L6 eindtrap en JJ buizen (stock)
-goede master-volumes (ook op laag volume blijft de sound goed overeind)
Minpunten:
-volume-jump op kanaal groen(1)/blauw(2) bij lagere gainstanden. Zeker met gain rond 3/10 (wanneer clean echt clean moet zijn)
-kan snel erg schel worden, (met stock buizen Treble en Presence boven 6=earbleed.)
-FX-loop verliest snel tophoog bij gebruik van sommige gebufferde (Boss) effect-pedalen.
-Voor sommigen zou kanaal 3 (rood) wel té veel gain en compressie kunnen hebben. Gain boven de 6 is met stock buizen al snel te veel, zeker met high output elementen in je gitaar.
Zelf heb ik wat ge-experimenteerd met andere buizen, waardoor sommige minpunten als sneeuw voor de zon verdwijnen; deze amp heeft 6x 12AX7 (100% gain) preamp buizen; vervang bijv. V4 (de 3e gainstage van kanaal 3/rood) met een goede ECC82/12AU7 (20% gain) en het kanaal is ineens een stuk milder, opener en ronder. Een tussenweg is de 5751 buis van JJ; 70% gain en volledig compatibel met een 12AX7. Wel is het aan te raden om (NOS) buizen te kiezen, die bekend staan als vol/romig/warm/rond, ipv scherp/schel/helder. Dus RFT, Mullard, Sylvania en JJ=prima. Chinese buizen/EH=not so much.
Ik kan hem niet 4,5 sterren geven, maar dat zou ie eigenlijk moeten krijgen; want voor de meeste mensen is ie niet even makkelijk als echte 3-kanaals amp te gebruiken, wanneer men clean/crunch/highgain wil.
Heb je zoiets van : ik wil prachtig clean en een mega-brute, maar strakke distortion (dus geen Dual Rectifier sound), is 't één van de beste keuzes. Dit is zo'n amp waar je echt geen boost/drive (TS9/SD1) vóór hoeft te zetten om hem strak te krijgen en extra gain uit te knijpen; more gain than you can shake a stick at. ;-)
En verder; goede service en levering van Bax.
