General
The Peavey 6505 Plus is the evolutionary follow-up to the legend that is the 6505. A highly-robust and just as anti-social 120 Watt tube-driven amp head with two channels and brutal overdrive. This is that sound you can hear on every rock, hardcore and metal album you own. The 6505+ has been gifted with an extra tube, taking the tally up to six and making for a cleaner sound via the first channel. The Lead channel delivers raw aggression and high-gain distortion that retains tight definition via the dedicated Resonance and Presence controls. Four 6L6GC tubes in the power amp give the 6505 Plus a full voice with ample headroom.
Peavey 6505 Plus: Independent EQ and Master Section
One of the most striking and beneficial differences between the 6505 and this upstart 6505 Plus is the independent controls per Rhythm and Lead channel. Each has its own three-band EQ that can be tweaked separately from the Master Section Low and High pots. Both channels of the 6505+ also get their very own Pre-Gain control so you can dial in the amount of gain or overdrive while the Post-Gain controls the volume. Besides this, the Rhythm channel has a Bright function and Crunch boost for added flexibility when you want to do some lighter work with some overdrive around the edges.
Footswitch and Functions
Round the back, you'll find an FX loop to integrate your pedalboard or a processer and a pre-amp output to send the preamp signal to something like a mixer or audio interface. Next to this, you get two parallel-connected speaker outputs with a switchable impedance of 16, 8 or 4 Ohms and, to get the best performance from the tubes, there are two Bias-testpoints. Completing the deal is a 7-pin footswitch input for the included three-button switch that can remotely flip between channels, enable the FX loop and activate the Crunch Boost.
