AirPort Extreme: 802.11ac Wi-Fi-technology and beam-forming

The 802.11ac technology utilises three simultaneous data streams to reach data speeds of up to 1.3 Gbps. That equals three times the speed of the previous standard, 802.11n, making it ideal for wirelessly transporting large files within your local network. Most base stations provide a constant, singular Wi-Fi signal in all directions, but the AirPort Extreme is smarter than that. Thanks to the beam-forming antenna system, any 802.11ac device detected by your network is registered and then the AirPort Extreme directs its signal toward that device.
