General

After an extensive career in music and a Grammy Award, Fender thought it was high time to make legendary jazz guitarist and pop musician George Benson a signature amplifier. This 40-watt tube combo was based on the popular Hot Rod Deluxe III but completely modified after the jazz giant's specifications. The preamp has a 12AT7 tube up front for more headroom and a cleaner sound in combination with humbucker pickups. Additionally, this combo was fitted with a 100-watt Jensen C12K speaker for more attack and clarity. The whole was given a chic black and grey look and of course the famous GB logo.

The versatility of the Fender George Benson Hot Rod Deluxe

Like the standard Hot Rod Deluxe III, this amplifier has three channels: Clean, Drive and More Drive. The clean channel is equipped with a volume control and a Normal/Bright switch for added sparkle. The drive knob of the distortion channel adjusts the amount of gain and the More Drive adds an extra gain boost. This'll help you go from a crunchy edge to some powerful distortion, making this amp suited for more than just jazz. You can use the master combined with the Drive as volume control. The Clean and Drive channels share a 3-band EQ plus a separate Presence control.

Built-in reverb, effects loop and more

When you've found the perfect sound you can enrich it with a dash of genuine spring reverb. The Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III pairs excellently with additional effect pedals and has an effects loop via the preamp out (FX-send) and power amp in (FX-return) specifically for this purpose. The foot switch input is meant for the included 2-knob foot switch that lets you switch between the three channels. Lastly, the amplifier has an external speaker output for connecting an optional 8-ohm speaker cabinet like the Fender GB Hot Rod Deluxe 112 George Benson Signature cabinet.

Prima levering. Na uitpakken zag ik een grote scheur van 20 cm achter aan de onderkant.
Lijkt wel of die een flinke dreun heeft gehad. Heb ik mooi kunnen repareren.
Het cleane geluid is prachtig, mooi warm en vol. Ook de drive en overdrive klinken heerlijk en beheerst.
Precies wat ik nodig heb.
Nu maar hopen dat er geen verdere schade is.

Vandaag 18/11/2015 amp ontvangen en direct aangesloten en drie verschillende gitaren erop uitgeprobeerd, van Jazzgitaar tot Strat met Humbucker.

Het geluid is mooi warm, diep en mega strak door de 12AT7.

De "drive" en "more drive" klinken vol en vet. Feitelijk heb ik geen losse pedaaltjes of multi-effect meer nodig.

Alles valt (voor mijn muziekgenre) uit de versterker te halen.

Dik tevreden en meer dan blij!

Ook mbt de service van Bax-shop weer alle lof!!!
