General

The lightweight Gretsch G5230T Electromatic Jet FT is mounted with a fully-licensed Bigsby B50 vibrato tailpiece and two Black Top Filter'Tron humbucker pickups. Already an icon, the Jet needs little introduction. The chambered body-construction shapes wide, balanced and transparent tone, free of feedback and that can be tweaked using straightforward volume and tone controls and 3-way pickup switch.

The G5230T Electromatic Jet FT: A Bigsby B50, Chambered Body and Heaps of Playing Comfort

The mahogany body of G5230T is finished with a maple top to give this instrument its prominent lows and mids with smooth, sparkling accenting overtones. The B50 vibrato tailpiece is tried and brutally tested and can be used to add embellishments while the U profile mahogany neck, 12-inch fretboard radius and 22 medium frets make this model a joy to play.

I've owned and played many guitars in my 77 years but only a few purchased from new. I've just opened the box a few hours ago expecting to do a full set-up on this new Gretsch
from Bax Music. Tuned the guitar stretching the strings. The intonation was spot on,relief fine, string height, right for me. If I was still gigging I could use this instrument right away. Can't say more than that.

Dit is een geweldige gitaar. Opgehaald in Goes, geen tijd gehad om hem helemaal te controleren. Eenmaal thuis stemmen spelen geweldig geen enkel probleem kunnen vinden. Wilde dit type gitaar al heel lang hebben en nu is het eindelijk zover ben er heel blij mee. En ook de service en de bediening in Goes heel vriendelijk behulpzaam geduldig. Top!

Ik ben een beginner, dit is mijn eerste elektrische gitaar en ik heb weinig referentiekader. Ik heb de Gretsch gekozen na eindeloos vergelijkende reviews kijken op YouTube en na een middag in Goes in de winkel te hebben doorgebracht. Dat laatste is sowieso aan te raden, want je weet pas of er een klik is als je er op kan spelen.

Naast de Gretsch heb ik ook gekeken naar een Epiphone Les Paul en een Yamaha Pacifica. Die eerste vond ik ook fijn, maar vooral voor het wat ruigere werk. De Gretsch is helderder en klinkt ook zonder effectjes al heel fijn. De Yamaha deed het gewoon niet voor me, ik weet niet eens precies waarom.

Goed:
- Beeldschoon ding. Al speel ik er nooit meer een noot op, het is een mooi kunstwerk in de woonkamer. Het Cadillac green combineert fantastisch met het mahonie van de body en de hals, de witte details en alle chromen details, de Bigsby. Het is een plaatje.
- Zeer fraai afgewerkt. Ik heb de gitaar nu 3 weken en ik heb (met het oog van de beginner) nog niks kunnen vinden dat niet netjes is afgewerkt. Zit geen krasje op.
- Komt zelfs onversterkt goed geluid uit, en klinkt zonder effecten mooi helder.
- Volgens de reviews kan ze, o.a. door de Bigsby, wat moeilijkt op stemming te houden zijn. Die ervaring heb ik tot nu toe niet, maar als beginner gebruik ik de Bigsby ook met mate, wellicht dat het anders is voor anderen.

Aandachtspuntjes
- Ze is wat zwaar, ik speel zittend en dan maakt 't niet zo veel uit, maar ik kan me voorstellen dat als je ermee gaat staan dat ze wat zwaar is.
- De scratch plate staat los van de body. Daardoor raak ik 'm vrij veel. Op zich heb ik er geen last van bij het spelen, maar kan me voorstellen dat de plaat hierdoor vrij snel kan krassen. Daar is 'ie ook voor bedoeld natuurlijk, maar als 'ie wat dichter tegen de body staat zou ik 'm waarschijnlijk niet of veel minder raken.

Eindoordeel: dolblij mee. Speelt heel fijn, klinkt lekker, prachtig ding.
