General

The American-made Gibson Modern Collection ES-339 figured has all the tonal character of an ES-335; the snug, manageable comfort of a slimline solidbody; and the sumptuous style of a AAA-grade maple soundboard coated in transparent nitrocellulose lacquer. While more compact than its cousins, this hollowbody packs the same rich resonance provided by a 3-ply maple and poplar build, alongside the full comfort and smooth playability of a rounded, C-profile neck, medium jumbo frets and 12" fretboard radius.

The ES-339 Figured: A Bright Acoustic Foundation & Thick Amplification

Since the body of the ES-339 has been shaved down a touch, the acoustic foundation has a brighter edge. To balance it out, Gibson have loaded this thinline archtop with a fat pair of '57 Classic humbuckers and the traditional four pot and 3-way switch control-combo, so this guitar can flip from the heavy bottom-end of the '57+ at the bridge to the more vintage vibe of the standard '57 at the neck, or mix up a forceful blend of both. In terms of hardware, it doesn't get much more stable than a set of nickel-plated Grover Rotomatic tuners, an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, lightweight aluminium Stop Bar, and GraphTech nut. The Figured edition of the ES-339 comes complete with a hardshell case and Gibson Accessory Kit.

na lang in mijn gedachten ....en sparen ! gekocht klinkt zoals ik verwachte en zelfs beter ...ontstemd nauwelijks of niet !!! meerdere gibsons gehad die ontstemde snel !! geen spijt van !! toppie

Wrote the following about Gibson Modern Collection ES-339 Figured Sixties Cherry Semi-Acoustic Guitar with Case

Fantastische gitaar! Na jarenlang op Les Paul en SG te hebben gespeeld nu toch de knoop doorgehakt en mij deze gitaar aangeschaft. Ze ziet er niet alleen prachtig uit (perfecte afwerking ook), ze klinkt ook geweldig. De hals en de frets (Plek'd) zijn ook perfect afgewerkt. Ook handig is de guitar input jack aan de zijkant in plaats van op het bovenblad zoals bij de 335 (wat ik niet handig vind). Aangezien ik niet zo groot ben en eerder kleine handen heb voor een gitarist, was een 335 voor mij ook geen optie. Maar qua klank moet deze kleinere broer het zeker niet afleggen. Eerst en vooral is deze 339 een verademing om op te spelen omdat die veel lichter is dan mijn Les Paul. Als je 3 uren achtereen met een Les Paul aan je schouder rechtstaat, weet je het wel. De Classic 57 humbuckers klinken ook heel goed en zijn mooi in balans. Deze ES-339 voldoet ook aan al mijn vereisten om zowel blues als rock te spelen. Ik heb de 339 nog niet gebruikt in een live context, maar wel al uitgeprobeerd op luid versterker volume en er is geen enkele twijfel: deze gitaar zal ook live aan alle vereisten voldoen. De Les Paul zal ongetwijfeld mijn 2de gitaar worden en deze ES-339 de #1. Het enige nadeel is dat deze gitaar duur is, maar je krijgt er topkwaliteit voor in de plaats.
