This microphone features a neutral frequency response that matches any harmonica model, while the fitted on/off switch and volume pot have been mounted in just the right spot, handing musicians extra control over the drive of their amplifier - just like the volume pot of an electric guitar.

The Peavey H-5C Cherry Bomb

The frequency response of the H-5 has been specially tuned to match harmonicas, so while a vocal microphone can often sound a little dead when cupped against a harmonica, the sound of the H-5 retains clarity and definition and the omnidirectional polar pattern of the internal capsule efficiently counters the proximity effect. The detailed design of this microphone also features a secure mini XLR output, so it can be hooked up directly to a guitar amplifier using the included XLR to jack lead.

Tot voor kort bespeelde ik mijn mondharmonica's in combinatie met de excellente Shure SM57 instrumentenmicrofoon en een Kustom Sienna 16 Pro versterker. Het gebruik harmonica/microfoon 'hand held' lukte me minder goed. Met de Peavy H-5C Cherry Bomb microfoon is dit euvel opgelost. De Peavy ligt lekker in de hand dankzij de uitsparingen waarin de midden- en de ringvinger passen. De middenvinger houdt dan de microfoon probleemloos op de juiste afstand van de mond. De Peavy beschikt bovendien over een aan/uit-knop en een volumeknop. Ook de klankweergave is voor mijn wensen uitstekend. De zeer aantrekkelijke prijs in vergelijking met duurdere mondharmonica-microfoons deed me even twijfelen. De twijfel bleek onterecht. Aandachtspuntje: de Peavy H-5C heeft een afneembare mini XLR-aansluiting (een eventuele, lange reservekabel mini XLR- 1/4 jackplug lijkt niet makkelijk te vinden). Met het volste vertrouwen kan ik de Peavy H-5C aanraden.

Ik bespeelde mijn Hohner Special 20 mondharmonica's in combinatie met een SM58 Shure microfoon en een Kustom Sienna Pro 16 versterker. De weergave stelde me ruimschoots tevreden, alleen had ik toch wat moeite met vernoemde microfoon hand held te gebruiken. Na lang twijfelen kocht ik de Peavy H-5C Cherry Bomb mondharmonica microfoon. Het prijsverschil met de veel duurdere Shure 520DX Green Bullet en de SE Electronics Hohner Harp gaf de doorslag. Ik ben uiterst tevreden over de Peavy H-5C. De microfoon ligt lekker in de hand in combinatie met een mondharmonica. Hij is niet te zwaar of te licht en de klank via de versterker is puik. De Peavy H-5C beschikt over een on/off- en een volumeknop. Enig minpuntje is misschien de mini XLR kabelaansluiting aan de mic (oogt wat freel en lijkt niet evident om een vervang-exemplaar te vinden). Niettemin kan ik de Peavy H-5C Cherry Bomb met het volste vertrouwen aanraden.
