General

The Danish-designed Carl Martin PlexiRanger 3-in-1 Dual-Boost/Drive somehow manages to cram the vintage British rock sound of the sixties to mid-seventies into one solid stompbox. Beneath the left footswitch, that classic Plexi tone can be found, while the right footswitch accesses that ever-dependable top-boost style guitar sound. Naturally, you're equipped with a set of standard-issue Gain, Boost, Level, and Tone control pots, but this Carl Martin creation also offers a further array of options for detailed overdrive shaping. Use the Low-Cut to add an extra thin or thick layer of solidity on top of the standard sound; use the Freq pot to select the frequencies you want boosting; then use the Range pot to pour over that familiar treble booster/range master style effect you've heard on countless classic records since birth.

Carl Martin was één van de eerste pedaalfabrikanten die een echt goede amp-in-a-box pedaalversie maakte van de Marshall-Plexi. Deze Plexi-Ranger is een waardige opvolger!

THE GOOD: the Plexi side is a good sounding Marshall-In-A-Box with great clarity and headroom. It has great sustain. The treblebooster is highly flexible. The bass cut is a nice addition. Bypass is buffered and sounds excellent.

THE BAD: to my taste, even the lowest gain setting already has too much gain for an authentic 60's or early 70's sound. I feel like this pedal is catering to the "hot-rodded plexi" crowd, and alas I'm not one of them. Also, I think it's way overpriced for a 'made in china' pedal.

I didn't keep it, and will stick to my beloved OCD clone.

Na veel vergelijken en vooral luisteren gekozen voor de Carl Martin Plexirange vanwege het degelijke ontwerp en de technische know how van dit merk.
De Plexi kant van het pedaal is een vet klinkende dynamische oversturing.
Een ongeevenaarde Plexi met een Treble booster maakt het af.
Mooie aanslaggevoeligheid met zowel humbuckers als single coil p'ups wat een veelzijdigheid van de gebruikte guitaren opleverd.
De aanslag gevoeligheid is een groot pluspunt.
Ruimt mooi op met de volumeregeling van je gitaar.
Beide zijden van het pedaal zijn afzonderlijk te gebruiken.
Het pedaal komt echt tot leven wanneer je de boost inschakeld en dan kom je in de fantastisch Plexi-sfeer die niet te evenaren is met de meeste pedaals.
Met de boost-regelaar kan je een breed scala aan texturen toe voegen die helpen bij het creëren van een aantal geweldige hogere gain-tonen (ideaal voor solo's).
Het pedaal laat zich goed bespelen met humbuckers en stacken met andere pedaals waardoor u nog veel meer mogelijkheden krijgt.
Dat is een van mijn favoriete pedaals.
Functioneert ook als een geweldig klinkende clean boost.
Goed en stevig gebouwd, en gig waardig.
Sterk aanbevolen voor de fans van Tony Iommi, Ritchie Blackmore, Brian May die op zoek zijn deze klanken te evenaren.
Al met al een zeer bruikbaar pedaal dat zijn geld meer dan waard is.
