A stunning instrument in terms of design as well as sound, the elegant Yamaha YEV-105 five-string electric violin has been based on the traditional construction of the acoustic violin which, despite its unique look, lends it an immediately familiar feel. Yamaha have also been careful to select durable woods to construct this exquisite model, so the maple, mahogany and spruce build lays down a naturally rich and resonant foundation.

The Yamaha YEV-105 Electric Violin: Special Construction & Special Sound

Besides using specific woods, the five-layered construction ensures sublime tonal response while the sweeping walnut frame has been finished with an oil rub to further retain resonance and the composite fingerboard adds particular timbrel warmth. When it comes to the electronics, the YEV-105 has been furnished with a high-grade SV250 piezo pickup that guarantees flawless sound registration and comes coupled with a mounted volume control.

Yamaha Yev105 Natural 5-String Electric Violin

Ik speel er nu al een jaar of 10 op. Speelt heerlijk. Heb er ook klassieke topviolist op laten spelen, die was meteen verkocht. Over mijn Yamaha Stagepas PA klinkt hij fantastisch, over mijn Fishman accu versterker (loudbox mini) nog beter. Ik gebruik er een pedal board bij (Boss ME-50, nog volop tweedehands te koop), en dan met name de octaver (ik sta soms hele avonden te bassen op dat ding), de wah, en reverb. En heel soms heavy distortion (om Guns & Roses te spelen, haha). Bijna elke week om maandagavond te horen (en uit te proberen) in Miles Amersfoort in de toffe open jamsessie daar . Nadelen: als je er zacht op speelt verliest hij zijn warmte (kan je beter met volumepedaal regelen), en in Cubase krijg ik hem niet goed klinkend. Snap niet waarom niet.
