Meinl CS400AWA-M Collection series bongo set, American white ash

General

The Meinl CS400AWA-M bongo set is part of Meinl's premium Collection series. That means we are dealing with a set of bongos that were carefully hand-crafted by a true artisan, with a great eye for aesthetics. The shells are made of American white ash and the 'hembra' - or female drum - has an 8.5-inch diameter, while the smaller 'macho' - or male drum - has a 7-inch diameter. The drumhead is a True Skin cowskin head, that is kept in place and in tune by Meinl's Free Ride Suspension System. With their combination of white ash and the special cowskin drumheads, these bongos have warm sound and attack. A great set of bongos for the true enthusiast.

Tuning system

The Meinl CS400AWA-M features all chrome hardware - the rubber feet being a logical exception, as these protect the bottom of the bongo from being damaged. Furthermore, these bongos use the aforementioned Free Ride Suspension tuning system. The two heads are kept in place and in tune by two 3mm-thick, rounded SSR Rims (Safe and Sound Ring rims), which in turn are kept in place by the 8mm tuning lugs. Between the two bongo's there is a special bracket that you can use to mount them on a stand. Finally, this set comes with an L-shaped tuning key and Tune Up oil, so you can keep the bongos in great shape and sounding perfectly.
