This Latin Percussion 4.5-inch afuche-cabasa is a high-quality, standard wooden instrument with a wooden handle and frame. It measures about 11.5 cm in diameter and produces a variety of rasping and rustling sounds when you turn it in your hand or shake it.

Over the past forty years, the cabasa has grown to become one of the most important percussion instruments ever, thanks to Latin Percussion. It's commonly used in Latin Jazz, like bossa nova, for instance. The sound of the afuche-cabasa - which is what LP call their patented version - is made when the chains of metal beads come in contact with the special texture of the stainless-steel cylinder.
