For percussionists who find the Peruano a little too large, Schlagwerk offer some middle-ground in the shape of the YD444 Yambu Travel Skinwood Black. In terms of sound, this unique instrument is a kind of alternative to a standard 'box' cajon, but with the form of an octagonal conga. The playing surface has a comfortable 10" diameter and the body is just 62cm high, making it an easy road-buddy, while the Skinwood finish of the playing surface ensures a clear and present response, and the 7-ply alder body takes care of fullness and warmth.
