General
A more-than affordable introduction to the classical guitar, the LaPaz 002 sets up any beginner with warm sound and the comfortable playing feel of lower tension, nylon strings. Nylon strings are softer than steel strings, so less pressure is needed when holding down notes and chords, and since this guitar has been built using basswood, you're assured of a balanced acoustic sound and plenty of definition whether finger-picking or strumming. This 4/4 sized model is the perfect learning partner for children aged 12 and up as well as fully-grown adults.
Traditional Design & Modern Tweaks
To aid beginners as they navigate their first chords and scales, LaPaz have opted for a traditional, 51mm wide nut, giving both your fretting and playing hand more space between each string, and making it easier to learn picking techniques. Another striking design detail is the addition of a truss rod, which extends through the neck to increase stability and prevent the warping that's characteristic of wood exposed to any temperature and humidity shifts over a long period of time. The beauty of the truss rod is that if any warping occurs, leaving the neck lightly twisted, it can be corrected by simply adjusting the truss rod. To finish this comfortable and durable practice partner, the body has been sealed with white bindings, echoing the white tuning buttons of the machine heads for a stylish touch.

This guitar exceeded all expectactions. Obviously it's built with the cheapest possible materials, and there are numerous minor imperfections in the finish. However it plays well and sounds great. Several points are worth noting:
(1) It has a very thin neck (the thinnest I've seen on a classical guitar) and the action is low. This makes it very easy to play. Most budget guitars I've come across have had chunky necks and very high action.
(2) Intonation is good. This is often a problem with cheap guitars.
(3) There is no fret buzz. Again, cheap guitars usually suffer from this.
(4) Strings are ok. It goes without saying that they're not in the same league as D'Addario or Augustine, but they're significantly better than the budget ones available on eBay.
I can't really comment on the tuning - I've only had this a few days, and with all classical guitars the strings need time to settle. However it doesn't seem go out of tune while playing - it currently only needs re-tuned before each use.
I bought this really just to play one or two specific songs, however I find that I'm playing it a lot more than anticipated. For the price I paid for this, it's an absolute bargain and highly recommended.

Ik verwachtte niet veel van een gitaar van deze prijs, en dat klopte ook wel. Het is gewoon niet de beste kwaliteit die je krijgt voor die prijs. Voor een beginner is het een goede gitaar. Je begint net en weet niet zeker of je door blijft gaan en dus niet de hoofdprijs wilt betalen voor een gitaar. Net als met andere nieuwe gitaren stem je de snaren veel af. Naar verloop van tijd wordt dit wel minder, maar elke keer als je de gitaar pakt toch even kijken of de snaren nog zuiver staan.

Voor de prijs een prima gitaartje voor de starter. Ik maak zeer zelden mee dat er een snaar aanloopt cq dat er onregelmatigheden in de hals of fretjes aanwezig is. Gerustloos te bestellen als eerste kennismaking met de gitaar!
