General
In case you don't know, clocking technology offers a great way to improve the audio quality of any compatible system. Take your computer for instance. Here, any internal clocking is carried out by the CPU, which is already burdened with a bunch of other tasks. While you generally won't notice your processor is slaving away at clocking work, what you will notice are the subtle sonic imperfections it leaves in any sound it's asked to process. For ultra-precise clocking, you need a dedicated bit of kit like the Black Lion Audio Micro Clock MK3. This stand-alone unit has only one job, which is to tick in time based on an adjustable 44.1kHz to 384kHz sample rate range and let the system you've hooked up via one of the (digital) outputs know exactly when to process data. While the differences may be small, the impact of a proper wordclock shouldn't be underestimated. In fact, plenty of professional audio engineers these days can't do without one.
