General

The Fender Twin Reverb was first introduced in 1952. Since then, this classic tube guitar amplifier has undergone many changes. The '65 Twin Reverb is a reissue of the version from 1965, perhaps the most popular edition. This combo is characterised by its legendary sparkling cleans that can be heard in many current as well as older hit songs. Thanks to its two 12-inch Jensen speakers, this Twin Reverb produces a wide, full sound. The Fender Twin (as it is also called) has two separate channels, built-in Reverb and Vibrato effects and its 85 watts of power are strong enough for any stage. Bring out your Stratocaster and Fuzz pedal!

Features of the Fender '65 Twin Reverb

Both the Normal and the Vibrato channel have volume control, 3-band EQ (consisting of treble, mid and bass), plus a bright switch for extra clarity. Both channels also have two inputs. You can choose input 2 for a cleaner sound, while input 1 features 6dB of extra gain that is ideal for some additional amplifier distortion. The Vibrato channel is equipped with analogue, Reverb and Vibrato effects that are tube-driven for a deliciously warm sound. You'll conjure up those iconic sixties surf-rock sounds with incredible ease, using the Reverb knob. The speed and intensity knobs allow for a minute Vibrato effect control and the included footswitch allows you to turn both effects on and off from a distance.

Tube Magic

The heart of the '65 Twin Reverb is formed by four 12AX7 and two 12AT7 preamp tubes plus four 6L6 amplifier tubes. These give this amplifier its characteristically clear sound with marvellous distortion up to a creamy overdrive when you turn up the volume. Thanks to the dynamic nature of the tubes, every nuance of your style is accurately represented. You can get a cleaner tube sound just by more subtle strikes and turning the volume on your guitar down but you can also take it to the edge by striking with more force. Get your hands on this bit of rock & roll history.

Un ampli super équilibré, avec la configuration circuit du Blackface de 1963...d'une efficacité redoutable pour le Jazz et d'autres génériques.

Wrote the following about Fender 65 Twin Reverb 85W 2x 12 Tube Guitar Amp Combo
The amp sounds great. Mine has some defect, though: when I switch the vibrato on, there is a loud continuous hum even when no guitar is plugged in, and after some searching on the web I found out that I am not the only one.

It's also super heavy, to move it around would be a major project.

The Blackstar Artist Series: Classic and Versatile

Monday November 2, 2015 By Richard | Bax Music

Blackstar has gone from a newcomer to an established name in a short space of time. One of their greatest assets is the Infinite Shape Feature or ISF circuit (as it's otherwise known) that they developed themselves. With the ISF circuit, Blackstar managed to greatly increase the versatility of tube amplifiers without the use of digital technology. The new Artist 15 and Artist 30 models both have an ISF circuit fitted and can produce the typical American 6L6 sound, as well as beloved British AC clean and crunch.

The VOX VTX Series - Evolution Accelerated

Wednesday November 4, 2015 By Richard | Bax Music

It's already been more than 10 years since VOX turned the amplifier world on its head with the Valvetronix series. This series of amps combined digital modelling technology with convincing tube sounds. Since then, models have slowly but steadily improved along with digital technology. Now however, the time is ripe for VOX to introduce another series that, rather than show another slow and steady improvement, offer something more like evolution accelerated. Meet the VT20X, the VT40X and the VT100X, the first three models from the new series.
