The Zildjian Z Custom Crash basically sets up rock, punk and metal drummers with a 20 inch smasher that delivers the necessary, mix-punching weight without too much overkill. Just like the rest of the Z Custom Series which, after a 30 year break, has been given a re-release, you're getting an aggressive sonic character with a hefty attack and bright and defined tone followed by a medium-long sustain. Essentially, this crash sits in that sweet spot that lies between pure white noise and lush musicality, taking things right back to the sound of the nineties - right down to the star-shaped hammering pattern.
