And so we come to fifth edition of Presonus Studio One. And since this is the Artist Edition, it offers anyone a smooth introductory step into the world of music production. With the eased drag-and-drop workflow, an unlimited number of tracks and buses, an immense array of effects and instruments, a rewire function, VST and AU support, and the new Studio One Remote, it's hard to believe that this is entry-level software.
What's New with Studio One 5 Artist?
We've already mentioned it briefly, but one of the fresh functions is Studio One Remote. This iOS iPad and Android app basically operates as a remote control so you can do cool stuff like hit record from far away, even from the vocal booth. Presonus have also been kind enough to remove all key-switches from all playback processes, and this refreshed version of Artist now supports 'note controllers', as well as polyphonic expression when using MIDI controllers. Another new feature of version 5 is the set of provided Clip Gain Envelopes, that can be used to reduce or raise the gain of one isolated section of a single stem.
New Plug-In Suite!
Studio One has always come brimming with plug-ins, and thankfully nothing has changed when it comes to the Artist edition of Studio One 5. So, you get the familiar interfaces of Sample One XT, Mojito, Mai Tai, and Impact XT, alongside a number of plug-ins that have been given some face-lifts and tweaks, like the Analog Delay, the Rotor, and Tricomp. These now all come with a new 'Drive Stage', so that warm, fuzzy, and natural feeling saturation can be added to the sound. The whole overview of Metamorfose has also be overhauled, so that browsing and selecting just the right plug-in is made as streamlined as can be.

This program is much more intuitive and can also be used in combination with bias fx 2. The build in amp simulators also function well.
Now I can make my own loops easily, but some beats and play improvisations. I still have a lot to learn but the program is not too difficult to understand.
For fun I tried creating some minimal techno and succeeded in making something that wasn't terrible.
I can definitely recommend this. Thank you bax for your great service, as always. When you purchase this download package, give it a few hours before the license key is provided. They warn you in advance that it will not be instantaneous so I wasn't worried.
If DAWs always overwhelm you, consider this one. For guitarists, no doubt that this one works great!
