The Aura S3 is a soprano recorder and is perfect for beginners. It's made of pearwood and cedar which gives it a lovely warm sound with a rounded timbre. This model uses the German fingering system which means that the fifth hole is smaller than the ones above and below it while the bottom two holes have a single boring. The S3 soprano recorder comes with a bag, cleaning rod and fingering chart so you can get started right away.

Pearwood and Cedar

While the S3 may be aimed at beginners, Aura haven't spared any expense on the wood types used in its construction. That's important because the type of wood used has a big influence on the sound and timbre of a recorder. Pearwood is known for its warm, rounded sound and has been impregnated with paraffin to make it more resistant to moisture while the block is made of cedar. Together they combine to give you a lovely looking instrument with a great sound.
