DIs are indispensable in the sound world. They turn an unbalanced signal into a balanced one. This Mini-DI from Fischer Amps is unique in that it is so small. This makes it ideal for acoustic guitarists who can easily hang the DI from their strap. That way, the unbalanced cable can remain as short as possible.

Fischer Amps Mini-DI: balanced vs unbalanced

The main reason to use balanced cables is that they suffer less from noise. In particular, an XLR cable has a counter-phase of signal on one pole which cancels out any noise picked up along the way at the end of the cable. Moreover, unbalanced cables lose less noise as the cables get longer.
