This instrument has been in production since 1896 and has found its way onto countless hits and soundtracks that helped write music history. The Marine Band Classic is not just popular because of its playing comfort, but because it's just as accessible for fledgling musicians as it is for seasoned professionals, and thankfully, Hohner are still producing this plucky little diatonic harmonica with the same level of care and attention as they did way back when.

So what's the secret? What is it that makes this harmonica so good? The answer lies in a smart combination of just the right materials with just the right shape as well as an immense level of expertise and a meticulous eye for detail. The quality that results is evident as soon as you pick this harmonica up. The Marine Band Classic features a pear wood comb that's been carefully sealed in lacquer to increase moisture resistance and prevent warping. The reed plate has been made from copper and finished with twenty copper reeds which here, are tuned in F-major. All of this is protected by stainless steel cover plates engraved with the iconic Marine Band stamp, retaining a traditional look, while the combination of pear wood with copper produces naturally warm yet expressive and raw notes, and irresistibly rich, full chords. The F-major tuning is often used to play in C.
