Just like Maxon's loved OD-808, their OD9 (from the Nine series) offers a natural, mild overdrive to emulate the sound of a tube amplifier while retaining the actual guitar sound. This rather smooth distortion occurs as the distorted by the amplifier section of the pedal, rather than a separate circuit. The unique classic design (with JRC4558 IC chip) has been imitated by many manufacturers!

Maxon started out as a manufacturer of guitar pickups, yet made their way to fame with high-quality innovative effect pedals.
