Connect effortlessly via Wi-Fi to Beatport, TIDAL, Dropbox and Google Drive. Feel free to plug a USB stick into the CDJ-3000X as usual, but it's certainly not necessary. An NFC or QR code scan connects to your phone in no time. The sound quality is not excellent, as you are used to, but more than excellent thanks to the use of a high-end ESS DAC and a completely redesigned power supply. And as icing on the cake, the Preview Hot Cue, to create unique edits on the spot.

Many DJs will have been waiting for the built-in Wi-Fi and the wireless PRO DJ LINK. Another innovation is the USB-C port (replacing the SD card reader) for your PC/Mac connection. Another welcome addition is support for streaming platforms Beatport and TIDAL and access to your Dropbox or Google Drive via rekordbox CloudDirectPlay. And again, the good old USB stick still does the trick too.

The feel: 10.1 capacitive touchscreen and more

But DJing is much more than just cool digital features: it's just as important that it feels good. For instance, the colour touchscreen has been changed from a 9-inch screen to a 'capacitive' 10.1-inch smartphone-like screen, for faster, intuitive operation. In addition, the player got a top plate made of anodised aluminium, a glossy black ring around the jogwheel and new RGB/white LED lighting. Pleasingly, the jogwheel also has a noticeably heavier resistance on the heavy-mode; this 'brake' lets you make more precise pitch bends and prevents unwanted movements when scratching.

Seamless workflow

And finally, DJing should be fluid, unhindered. So there's been investment in an improved workflow: easily change the order of a playlist, delete tracks from it, just directly on the player, and pin 4 of your favourite playlists, for quick access. Interesting new hot cue features include creating new hot cues in a track that is already playing, automatically copying activated hot cues to the main CUE button, and the Gate Hot Cue: make a hot cue play only as long as you keep your finger on the button. In short, AlphaTheta made the CDJ-3000X as the DJ's musical instrument. Endlessly reliable yet super-sensitive.
