Meinl carves the African Style mini djembes from a single piece of mahogany, which is grown on a special environmentally-friendly plantation in Indonesia. Every djembe is hand-crafted and features unique hand-painted decorations - the HDJ6-XXS has a picture of Africa's largest venomous snake, the black mamba. The djembe has a 4.5-inch goatskin drumhead which is tuned with the nylon ropes which pull at it from ten different spots all around the head. With their compact size and sharp, high-pitched sound, the mini djembes are best suited for use in improvisational jam sessions and drum circles.
