General

In the sixties and seventies, Gary Chester was one of the most popular studio drummers on the circuit. Kenny Aronoff, Danny Gottlieb and Dave Weckl have studied Chester's method meticulously. The exercises in this book, "The New Breed (Revised Edition)" are suitable for drummers with some experience. The ability to sight read and recognise rhythmic patterns are important aspects of this method. These things are also important if you want to work as a studio drummer. "The New Breed" goes into detail about coordination, the leading right and left hand, time-awareness, and developing your internal metronome, among other things. It's 48 pages long and comes with a CD that even includes an interview with Gary Chester himself.
