Gretsch Drums BK-J483-SCP Broadkaster SB Satin Copper Mist

General

The name Broadkaster conjures up beautiful memories for Gretsch. Since the 1950s, the Broadkaster drum kits have been a popular choice - no wonder Gretsch decided to reissue the series! The BK-J483 SCP is a three-piece shell set with a small, powerful 18-inch bass drum, a 12-inch tom and a 14-inch floor tom, finished with a gorgeous Satin Copper Mist lacquer.

Maple and poplar shells

Just like the old Broadkasters, the new kits have thin shells that are made of only three plies of wood: two plies of maple and one ply of poplar. Together, these wood types ensure a solid low end with subtle mids and trebles, making the BK-J483-SCP shell set suitable for a wide range of music styles. The configuration is equipped with Standard Build hardware, a modern version of the old hardware. The legs of both the bass drum and the floor tom are quite stable and easy to adjust, and the tom is suspended from its hoops to ensure optimal resonance.

A Modern Bop Kit

The configuration with an 18-inch bass drum is referred to by Gretsch as the Modern Bop Kit, an allusion to the classic status of the Broadkaster series. The white Remo bass drum head is decorated with the vintage logo, and the Satin Copper Mist hoops of the bass drum have a decorative chrome inlay. The bearing edges of the shells have been finished with a reverse roundover technique, which enhances the surface contact between shell and drumhead, resulting in a full sound.
