Gretsch Drums RN1-R643-SWP Renown Maple 2014 shell set

General

With the Renown 2014 series, Gretsch combines the best of both worlds, offering modern systems as well as the old-fashioned Gretsch Renown sound and feel. This three-piece shell set consists of a 24 x 16-inch bass drum, a 13 x 9-inch tom and a 16 x 16-inch floor tom - sizeable shells for a heavy sound. The shells have a Satin Walnut finish and a decorative Pearl inlay runs along the middle, lending an authentic look to the kit.

Deep, warm sound

As the shells of the Renown 2014 series are made of six plies of North American maple, a full, explosive sound projection with a warm low-end timbre is ensured. The interior of the shells has been finished with a Silver Sealer lacquer that has been developed by Gretsch to keep the wood compact. The 30-degree bearing edges increase the contact between shell and drumhead, enhancing the acoustic properties.

Hardware

The most modern feature of this drum kit is its tom mounting: a special lightweight tom holder and an innovated system that suspends the tom from two bolts ensure optimal resonance. Stylish T-shaped bolts are used to attach the tom. Rugged die-cast hoops keep the drumheads consistently tightened, while classic lugs and vintage-style logos lend a good old-fashioned look to the Gretsch Renown Maple kit.
