Ludwig Vistalite acrylic drum kits are known for powerful attack and distinctive, transparent look. The Amber Vistalite L8264LX47 Amber shell set maintains a pure, rich sound delivered by a set up that includes a whopping 26-inch bass drum, made famous by Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. As such, this configuration is aptly nicknamed 'The Zep Set'.

In 1972 Ludwig introduced their first Vistalite drum kits, with shells made of a combination of wood and steel. Later they started using transparent acrylic, and in that shape, the Vistalite drum kits became incredibly popular throughout the 1970s. Having regained its popularity, this Amber shell set features a few '70s throwbacks. The shells are fitted with a typically '70s blue/olive green badge and Mini-Classic lugs and is made up of a 26-inch bass drum, 14-inch tom, 16 and 18-inch floor toms and a 14-inch snare drum. All shells feature 45-degree bearing edges, resulting in excellent resonance and a cleaner, richer sound.

Virgin Bass Drum

Don't worry, this has nothing to do with the entrepreneurial mastermind, Richard Branson, it simply means that the bass drum shell is not fitted with tom mounts. As such, you'll have to mount the tom to a separate stand. It's a relatively unusual 'lowriding' setup, allowing you to position your ride or crash cymbals a little lower. With the Vistalite Amber shell set, you'll be getting your hands on an absolutely top-quality kit - though we wouldn't expect anything less from Ludwig.
