This 6-piece Epic LCEP22FX shell set in Black Burst offers a rich balance between subtlety and power.

Ludwig LCEP22FXBB Epic 6-piece Funk shell set: birch and maple

With their combination of birch and maple, the 7-ply shells produce a cutting yet warm sound with low-range sustain. As such, the Epic Funk drum kit offers a powerful sound that's best suited for playing at high volumes. Its shells feature 45-degree bearing edges and are made of 2 inner plies of birch, 3 plies of maple in the middle and 2 more plies of birch on the outside, allowing for excellent resonance. Finally, they're fitted with 2.3mm and 2mm hoops.

Toms and bass drum

The toms feature Vibra-Band tom holders, which also help improve resonance by minimising contact with the shell. Furthermore, the shell set comes with Remo drumheads and isolated bass drum claw hooks, as well as locking bass drum spurs that help you properly set up your bass drum. In short, the Epic Funk shell set in Black Burst is a great and surprisingly affordable kit with excellent tonal properties. Ludwig did it again!
