The Ludwig LSS030XME Signet 105 Gigabeat in Macassar Ebony isn't your run-of-the-mill shell set. That's because the final stages of assembly are left up to you. Don't worry though, it's not as complicated as you might think. You simply snap the lugs into the pre-drilled holes, attach the Triad brackets for the floor tom legs and tom mounts using the included drum key, and mount the drumheads and hoops to the shell with the tension rods. In total, the whole process shouldn't take more than 30 minutes of your time. The big advantage here is that you're taking some of the workload away from Ludwig, which means that they in turn can offer you this professional sounding American maple drum kit at a very reasonable price!
LSS030XME: setup
The GigaBeat editions of the Signet 105 series consist of a 20" bass drum, a 14" floor tom and a 12" tom, with all legs and mounting materials included. Also included are a set of excellent Ludwig Weathermaster drumheads, which are made in the same US factory as the drums. Those drums all feature 6-ply maple shells, which have 45-degree bearing edges for a warm, professional sound. As the icing on the cake, this kit is finished with a beautiful, exotic-looking satin Macassar Ebony veneer.
Minimal parts
Noteworthy additions to the delightfully lightweight Ludwig Signet 105 series drum kits are the aptly named Insta-Lite Snap-In lugs. Usually it would take quite a few screws to secure all the lugs on a shell in place, but these specially designed parts can simply be snapped into the pre-drilled lug mounts. Furthermore, there are the Triad Suspension Mounts that hold the floor tom legs and suspend the toms, allowing the shells to resonate freely. They're also fitted with memory locks that allow you to always find your perfect setup in the blink of an eye!
