This Mapex Saturn shell set has been configured for the drummer seeking more punch. The four-piece comes cloaked in Satin Black and boasts modern rock worthy dimensions, including deeper toms, and a larger floor tom to lay down a nice and thick, bombastic presence that can always be dialed back a notch or two for more delicate work. The configuration also makes this set way more adaptable than just any 'rock' set, since the Mapex Saturn SR529X is a genuine all-rounder.

The Mapex Saturn SR529XFB

The rock configuration of this four-piece set is made up of two hanging toms (10" x 8", and 12" x 9"), a floor tom (16" x 16"), and a kick drum (22" x 18"). Every shell has been shaped using a maple and walnut hybrid, and the 6-ply shells of the toms and floor tom measure 5.1mm thick, while the 8-ply shell of the kick is a hefty 7.5mm. Along with the shells, Mapex have generously included a pack of Remo heads, two TH800 tom holders and a matching set of 2.3mm thick Mapex Powerhoops. The tom holders as well as the tension hoops have been finished in chrome.

The SONIClear Attenuation System

The SONIClear Attenuation System (or SAS), refers to all of the hardware fitted to the shells. This system has been developed to ensure that each component 'works together' to build optimum sound. This system includes the SONIClear bearing edges of each shell, the thoughtfully designed 90° bend in the floor tom legs, and the specialised rubber feet that are made to keep the resonance in the shell, rather than transferring it to the floor. Then there's the sound and feel of the Mapex Saturn, provided by 'chamber specific' integrated Air Flow ventilation ports in each shell. Every ventilation port has been placed with precision according to the specific resonance of each shell.
