Pearl STS924XSP Session Std. Select 4-piece shell set, Barnwood Brown

General

The harmonious sound of Pearl's Session series drums can be heard on numerous recordings from the past 25 years or so. While there have been a few changes over the years, this STS924XP/C314 Session Studio Select series 4-piece shell set goes back to the original wood type combination of birch and mahogany. The shells produce a warm, full sound and are made of 6 plies that just 5 mm thick. The set consists of a 22 x 16-inch bass drum, 10 x 7-inch and 12 x 8-inch toms and a 16 x 16-inch floor tom that all have a Piano Black finish. Be aware that this set doesn't include a snare drum, cymbals or stands.

Professional sound

For optimal sound, many of the features in this shell set have been taken from the flagship Masterworks series. The shells have an open sustain with good articulation and the 60 degree bearing edges help to prevent overtones and ensure the sound has more focus and extra punch. Robust 2.3 mm SuperHoop II hoops are included as are drumheads by Remo. The OptiMount mounting system and the Master floor tom feet ensure excellent resonance as well.
