General

This shellset consists of a 22 x 14-inch bass drum, a 12 x 8-inch suspended tom and a 16 x 16-inch floortom. The shells are a combination of walnut and birch wood - a 'hybrid' as it were! The tom and floortom both have a thickness of 5 mm and the bass drum is 8 mm thick. For the tom and floortom, four layers of birch have been used on the outside and two layers of walnut on the inside. The bass drum is made up of five layers of birch and two layers of walnut

But, what does such a 'hybrid' shellset sound like? The birch provides a good dose of bright attack and punch. The walnut, on the inside of the shell, actually provides more warmth. Bright, punchy but warm drums, in other words! The three shells in this shellset have a beautiful lacquer in the colour Satin Purple Atmosphere Fade. The set comes without hardware, cymbals and snare.

• Please note that this is only the three-piece Tama shellset. The hardware such as cymbal stands, snare drum stand, bass drum pedal and stool are not included, as well as a cymbal set and a snare drum.
