General
Roland's TD-17 is a drum module that will help you improve your skills as a drummer. It uses the same technology as the flagship TD-50 so you can rely on accurate sound reproduction. There are 50 kits on board which should be more than enough to get you started, but there's room for 50 more of your own as well. You can easily import WAV samples via an SD card. You can also play along to your favourite music from WAV or MP3 files on an SD card or stream it via Bluetooth.
Sounds and effects
There are more than 300 samples that make up the 50 standard kits, but you can easily make these your own by adding any of the built-in effects to any of the sounds. Not only that, but you can also adjust the individual volume, tuning, muffling, snare buzz and strainer of each sound. There are 30 multi effects, 25 types of ambience and an equalizer on board as well and these effects can be adjusted per pad.
Become a better drummer
For improving your skills as a drummer, the TD-17 features a Coach mode that'll warm you up then help you master various styles, keep the tempo and work on your timing. There's a recording feature too that allows you to record up to 60 minutes of your performance on an SD card so that you can listen to it later and determine what skills you still need to work on. It can also be used for general recording, of course, and there's also a MIDI out and a USB-B port so that you can easily connect the TD-17 directly to other equipment as well as a computer.
