Lugs are used on virtually all drums that have a drumhead. In combination with tension rods and one or two hoops, they ensure that the drumhead (or heads) remain(s) firmly in place. Lugs are attached to the side of a drum and when they need replaced it's important to know the distance between the holes in the shell for the screws. Some manufacturers use the same lugs for different series of drums, while others use different lugs for different series or even different drums.
