The Player II Mustang Bass PJ has all of the classic visual appeal of Fender's popular short-scale bass, but also boasts a handful of modern upgrades that boost the sonic versatility and playing comfort. As always, the body has been carved out of alder for a balanced yet robust foundation sound, while the maple neck has been finished with a modern C-profile and a smooth, satin-gloss coating.

The Player II Mustang Bass PJ: Dependable Hardware

The 30-inch scale length of this second-generation Fender Player bass combines with nineteen medium-jumbo frets, setting up your left hand with light fret navigation. At the same time, the 5-screw vintage-style 4-saddle standard bridge lays down a solid base so you can sling bass lines without having to worry about the stability.

Widely Adaptable Tone

As far as the sound goes, Fender has mounted a Player Series Alnico 5 Single-Coil Jazz Bass bridge pickup alongside a Player Series Alnico 5 Precision Bass Split Single-Coil middle pickup, giving you the rich sonic versatility of a PJ configuration. Together with the volume and tone pot, the 3-way pickup switch allows you to nudge the tone in practically any stylistic direction, all while the vintage-style tuners firm up the tuning stability.
