General
This electric bass has the same hardware and electronics as its high-end USA brothers, but is a lot more affordable, the G&L Tribute L-2000. A 4-string bass guitar manufactured in the Far East, but entirely to American design by Leo Fender. Thus, the bass is equipped with G&L's fat but quiet Magnetic Field Design (MFD) humbucker pickups, the versatile Tri-Tone circuit and the innovative Saddle Lock bridge. This L-2000 in Blueburst has a beautifully grained ash top over a lightweight poplar body and a 21-fret bolt-on maple neck for extra bite.
Tribute L-2000: lots of sounds for the versatile bass player!
The Tribute L-2000 offers you a host of options for creating your own bass sound. The Tri-tone circuit includes 3 potentiometers and 3 mini switches. There is 1 volume control and 2 knobs for filtering or boosting the bass and treble. There is also a 3-way switch to choose between the two dual-coil elements or use both simultaneously. To alternate between series and parallel bass guitar tones, you can use a mini 2-way switch. Finally, you can also choose to passively or actively output the amplified sound of this G&L bass to your amp.
Innovative hardware and practical elements
The L-2000's Saddle Lock bridge is designed to optimally transfer vibrations from the strings to the body for optimal transmission. A small screw on the side of the bridge presses the saddles together, causing them to vibrate as one with the bridge. This results in extra resonance and sustain. In addition, the special humbuckers have height-adjustable pins. This allows you to adjust the output per string, for an optimal volume balance between the strings.
