Jackon's JS Series bass guitars offer huge tonal variety and are remarkably affordable. Safe to say, this stunning Spectra JS3 finished in Indigo Blue is no exception. Here, the offset body and extended upper bout aren't just a sweet aesthetic touch, but a practical feature that balances out the weight to counter what's known as 'neck dive'. Meanwhile, the poplar body connects to a maple neck via a smooth and stable scarf-joint, and like with most Jackson-made instruments, the laurel fretboard has a compound radius that graduates from 12 to 16 inches, increasing the playability higher up the neck.
The Flexibility of Active Electronics
The active electronics that Jackson have integrated into the build of the JS3 consist of a 3-band EQ, a Blend pot that lets you mix in the DI sound, and a push/pull volume control to toggle the circuit on or off. This, combined with the two coil-splittable humbuckers gives you everything you need to shape highly expressive tone. Also, that push/pull functionality is truly brilliant because it also allows you to keep playing in passive mode should the battery suddenly die. To finish, Jackson have fitted a HiMass bridge for extra stability, lengthier sustain and a more aggressive overall sound, plus black nickel hardware for bonus style points.
