Ten-string pedal steel guitars in C6 tuning are tuned with the notes of the C6 chord with an F added, which becomes C-F-A-C-E-G-A-C-E-G. The D'Addario NYXL1270PS 12-70 C6 Pedal Steel Nickel Wound is suitable for these instruments, but also offers another alternative. As there are 11 strings in this set, you can replace the thinnest string (high G) with a D string with .017 inch diameter. In this so-called reentrant tuning, the bottom string is thus no longer the highest, but the pitch goes down again relative to the top string. Handy for those who want to try out both tunings or alternate them regularly, so there is no need to buy separate strings. The strings in this NYXL1270PS set are carbon steel, the wound ones received a nickel-plated wrap with the patented Fusion Twist technique. They provide a clear sound with pronounced highs and mids.
