General
Eddie Van Halen is known for modifying his guitars so that they have a truly unique sound and identity. It should come as no surprise, therefore, that he's created some of the most iconic guitars in rock history. The Shark, for instance, is a perfect example. The original model was made in 1978 and is mainly known for its appearance on the cover of Van Halen's 'Women and Children First' album from 1980. EVH now offer this attractively-priced version of the Shark as part of their Striped Series. This particular model is burgundy with silver stripes.
Striped Series Shark
This Shark has authentic design details and top-quality components. The bridge and string nut are both made of brass which adds warmth to the overall sound. The machine heads are made by renowned brand Gotoh and, interestingly, three of them are chrome plated, while the other three are gold plated. Two EVH Wolfgang alnico 2 pickups guarantee thick rock sounds with a long sustain. The low-friction volume potentiometer makes it extremely easy to add swells to your sound too.
