General

Taking his favourite seventies offset model as the base and throwing in a few surprising little upgrades, Death Cab for Cutie frontman and one half of The Postal Service, Ben Gibbard presents his very own Signature Series Fender Mustang. While hewn from ash, this Mustang has been chambered to make the lightweight body even lighter, while a pair of specially developed Ben Gibbard Mustang Signature single-coils shape a tasty alternative to the usual vintage range of tone. Beside the volume pot, and replacing the standard tone pot, a unique three-way rotary switch can be twisted to blend or isolate the pickups. The classic-looking Mustang bridge has been stripped of its tremolo function and has a more stable hardtail design finished with six saddles, while the short-scale length, modern-C neck profile and 22 medium frets provide that Fender-grade playability.

Ik was vooral ontgoocheld toen de gitaar aankwam. De goedkope waardeloze gigbag liet me al vermoeden waar ik aan toe was. Toen ik de gitaar zelf in handen had kwam verandering. Een gloss finish ben ik niet gewoon qua, maar weet snel. De gitaar is heel resonant, en de pickups zijn echt top ! Wat kan ik zeggen. Liever een topgitaar geleverd in een waardeloze zak dan een waardeloze gitaar in een prachtige koffer.
