Since the 1950's, Fender's Stratocaster has undergone a number of transformations. In the '50s, the necks on these models were made out of one piece of maple and in the '60s, a rosewood fretboard was added. More recently, the regulations around rosewood have been tightened to make it more sustainable, which is why this model has a fretboard made of pau ferro.
