Mashing up the progressive with the traditional, the Black Label Series Fret-King Country Squire Classic is an old-school-new-school innovation. Fully stable, this TE-style electric guitar comes kitted out with a high-grade Wilkinson WTB bridge, a set of Wilkinson WJ05 machine heads and a self-lubricating Graph Tech nut to sure-up the intonation as well as the tuning, and this is combined with a solid alder body and hard maple neck to complete a sweetly resonant foundation.
The Fret-King Country Squire Classic: Wide-Range Tone
While the pickup planted at the neck looks like a humbucker, that's not exactly right. This is a custom-designed Staggertwin: a double-coiled pup with staggered pole pieces. Teamed up with a Varicoil switch, this pickup can be dialled back from the full and warm output of a dual-coil, to the more traditional twang and bite of a single-coil at will. At the bridge, a just-as-unique Tapped-Fifty overwound and tappable single-coil shovels out authentic fifties-style spank framed by clearly emphasised mid-frequencies and some extra power. Wide-ranging sonic joy in a tight and familiar package.
