G&L Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-Hollow Red Burst

Leo Fender, father of the eponymous S and T-style guitars, teamed up with guitar designer George Fullerton to establish G&L. The company crafts virtually the same guitars but equips them with various modern innovations. This Red Burst ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-Hollow from the budget-friendly Tribute Series is essentially a modified version of Leo's iconic single-cutaway guitar from the '50s. It sports the same vintage looks but can be put to use in a broader range of styles thanks to its tonally versatile single-coil/humbucker pickup configuration. We're talking country cleans to bluesy edges and creamy rock leads.

G&L Tribute Bluesboy Semi-Hollow: “Thinline” Body

The swamp ash body of the Tribute ASAT Classic has been carefully hollowed out and features two sound chambers covered by the F-shaped sound hole. Commonly referred to as a 'thinline' construction, these were originally implemented to keep the weight of the guitar down. The subsequent change in tone, however, was instantly appreciated by, among others, a large group of Blues guitarists. It sounds a little sweeter than most traditional T-style models, with less aggressive mids and more accentuation on the bass and treble.

G&L USA Hardware and Electronics

The G&L Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy is equipped with the same hardware and electronics as its American siblings, including a G&L Magnetic Field Design single-coil at the bridge and a G&L Alnico humbucker at the neck position. The bridge pickup delivers a modern sound with increased output but a little less twang than the traditional T-style single-coil, while the humbucker at the neck brings a lush, warm vintage sound for jazzy cleans and crunchy blues solos. For optimal intonation, the guitar is blessed with a classic Ash Tray-model bridge with six adjustable brass saddles.
