Originally unleashed on the world back in the late eighties as part of the Japanse Genesis Collection, the Ibanez RG565R has been levelled up for the new age while retaining the OG pickup configuration. The pickups however, are definitely new: an Alnico 5 V8 humbucker has been mounted at the bridge to deliver tight warmth framed by extra overtones to support riffs and leads, while the ceramic Infinity R neck pickup squeezes a full humbucker into a single-coil sleeve, bringing that more future-focussed definition.

The Ibanez RG565R: Big, Flexible Tone

This solid reissue bears a similar control section, but besides the volume and tone controls, the selector switch has been bumped up to a five-way version to grant access to the immense tonal spectrum this guitar is able to shape. So, as well as the three familiar sound profiles, the neck pickup can be split and placed in parallel for sharper response, while the other position delivers a bridge humbucker and neck single-coil combo. This, teamed up with your favourite faithful amp, grants access to endless flexibility.

Comfort, Satisfaction & Extreme Dive Bombing

Just as with the original Genesis, the RG565R also comes with the ultra-thin feel of a Super Wizard neck profile and comfy, satisfying playability of twenty-four jumbo frets - all courtesy of the Ibanez master-builders in Japan. The Edge Tremolo Bridge and locking nut are also familiar features, backing up everything from subtle note bends to extreme dive bombs with unshakable tuning stability while the white sharktooth inlays of the rosewood fretboard serve as yet another subtle nod at the OG Genesis.
