The comfortably lightweight poplar body boasts a resonant, neck-through construction where the maple neck has been reinforced with graphite to reduce sensitivity to temperature and humidity shifts over time and prevent the need for truss rod adjustments. The laurel fretboard has been finished with the wider range of 24 jumbo frets and a full set of Jackson-signature sharkfin inlays. Smooth playability, meanwhile, is guaranteed by the seamless scarf-joint that fuses the headstock to the neck and the compound fretboard radius that gradually shifts from a round 12 inches at the head, to a flat 16 inches at the body, lending a tight grip to chords and fast feel to leads.

The Jackson King V KVK-MH7: Active Humbuckers & Extended Range

Since the King V KVK-MH7 comes loaded with a 7-string range, the scale length has been extended to 26.5 inches, so that the lower strings feel tight beneath your fingers and the deeper diving notes retain definition. So that the amplified sound is able to cover the expanded frequency range, a pair of active EMG humbuckers has been mounted where an EMG 81-7H takes up the bridge position and an EMG 85-7H takes up the neck position. This combo delivers a powerful yet flowing output that can be shaped to fit intense staccato riffs just as beautifully as fierce lead-work using the provided five-way selector switch and volume and tone pots. Capping it off is a Floyd Rose Special locking system that sets up solid tuning and smooth action no matter how extreme the flutters and dive bombs get, while the body has been coated in a buttery satin-gloss black with grey bevelling, and the pointed headstock has been fitted with a set of 7-in-line Jackson tuners.
