Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Deluxe Black MN Electric Guitar
This guitar represents great value indeed, and its delivery from Bax was prompt and efficient. The guitar arrived completely undamaged.
For a 'budget' guitar, it was very well set-up as regards the string action and intonation. I did need to do some tweaks to the E and A lower strings to get them spot-on. I also lowered the action more. However, it didn't need it and Fender guitars are great as you are able to easily adjust such things.
The two ceramic pickups sound really good indeed. I currently have them going through a Fender amp. With distortion, this gives a superb meaty rock sound. As the strings go through the body, the strings are slightly stiffer on Telecasters. However, this also means you could down-tune this guitar really easily.
The pickup configuration is the same as an SG-two volume and two tones. I usually then use the bridge to play rhythm and the the neck on a high volume to do leads.
I removed all the pickguard plastic yesterday. It looks really nice-especially the pickup covers. The guitar only weighs 3.1kgs, lighter than my strat. It is a little neck heavy though, and so I recommend and anti-slip strap.
All in all, I cannot recommend this guitar highly enough. The neck is also nice and dry and I couldn't find any rough frets at all. This is also Chinese made rather than being Indonesian. I cannot recommend this guitar highly enough. Bax also had a great price and free delivery. Right, I am off to play my new guitar instead of this review..
