Fender designed the (often imitated) Stratocaster in the fifties, as a successor to their Telecaster. Fender affiliate Squier has been making affordable versions of this and other Fender models, of a widely renowned quality. The Squier Vintage Modified Stratocaster is a serious entry-level Strat in a classic guise, with three single-coils Duncan Designed SC-101 pickups. It produces a beautiful, clear sound with that characteristic nasal tone in mid positions.

Stratocaster with a vintage-style finish

Unlike the Telecaster (which has two pickups), the Stratocaster is equipped with three pickups and combined with the tremolo bridge's capability to create vibrato effects, these allows for the Strat's versatile character. The attractive Squier Vintage modified version is available in three different colours, including this black edition. All of them are equipped with a vintage-style tremolo, large '70s-style headstock, vintage-tint neck, weathered-looking pickup covers, engraved neck plate and chrome-plated hardware.

The Squier brand

The Precision and Jazz electric bass guitars and the Stratocaster and Telecaster electric guitars are the most famous Fender models. Many manufacturers have tried to imitate them, in various price ranges. In order to be able to provide a reliable and attractive alternative for beginners themselves, Fender started their subsidiary Squier in 1982. Squier guitars and bass guitars are built according to specifications by, and under supervision of, Fender.
